What is cylinder head machining and when is it needed?
Cylinder head machining; Surfaces damaged due to heat, lack of oil or long-term wear on processing machines is to be re-corrected. It is integral to the engine assembly: on one side there is wear metal, on the other side there is tolerance; cylinder head machining regains this tolerance.
Typical grinder jobs:
- cylinder head resurfacing: Correcting the lid surface that is bent after heating
- Valve and seat machining: restoring valve tightness
- Cylinder honing/liner machining: renewal of the oil-retaining surface pattern
- Crank and bearing controls: diameter and ovality measurement, grinding if necessary
- Cover revision: with guide, seal and valve changes
No machining decision without measuring
Not every engine wants a rectifier. Some malfunctions can only be resolved by replacing gaskets, seals or valves. So we measure first:
- Cylinder diameter and ovality measurement
- Cover flatness and surface control
- Compression and cylinder leak test
- Oil pressure and bearing clearances
The measurement result is reported as "action required", "action close to the limit" or "no action required". We do not do anything that is not necessary; If necessary, we show why it is necessary with measurement values.
Process: start to finish under one roof
Responsibility is also distributed when engine disassembly, processing and reassembly are dispersed to different locations. We have this chain in one place:
- The vehicle is taken to the workshop, the fault record is read and tests are performed.
- The engine is removed, stripped down and measured.
- Parts requiring machining in our own cylinder-head workshop are machined by our specialist team.
- The parts are cleaned and the engine is reassembled to factory torque values.
- It is delivered with initial start-up, control and running-in information.
The practical benefit of this: in case of a problem, you do not have to look for a "capper, turner or technician" - there is only one contact person and the warranty is undivided.
Our own cylinder-head workshop
We never send cylinder-head work out. Cylinder head and block surface machining, valve and seat machining, honing plus bearing and crankshaft checks are carried out in our own cylinder-head workshop , where our machining specialists and our technicians who do this work every day are on the job.
- Our own tooling and measuring setup: The piece does not leave the hand; The processing order, measurement control and duration are under our control.
- Specialist team: grinding remains in the hands of the team that routinely performs this work; There is no trial and error.
- Single point of contact: Since it is the same team that makes the decision to process, processes and measures the result, the responsibility is not divided.
- Faster turnaround: Since the part is not waiting for another workshop, the time the engine stays with us is shortened.
That is why there are no days lost waiting for a head shop or a lathe: the engine is stripped, machined, assembled and warranted under one roof.
Warranty and delivery
In engine works including Cylinder head machining 5,000 km engine warranty we apply; for labour and spare parts, in case of a manufacturing or workmanship defect, replacement applies. Damage caused by third-party intervention or installation error, overheating or unsuitable fuel is excluded. Upon delivery, which part was processed and which was replaced, along with the warranty scope, are provided in writing; break-in rules are also in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Is cylinder head machining required for every engine fault?
No. Many faults are resolved at the gasket, seal, valve or sensor level. Cylinder head machining decision is made only after measurement, for surfaces that are out of tolerance.
Will the engine be as good as before after machining?
With correct measurement and correct installation, the engine operates close to factory values. For this, the first 1,000 km running-in rules must be followed and oil maintenance must be carried out on time.
Does cylinder head resurfacing reduce engine power?
When the amount taken from the cover surface is measured and kept to the required minimum, there is no loss of power; On the contrary, the engine runs more regularly as compression and sealing are improved.
Do you need a price for your vehicle?
Explain the symptom over the phone; We will provide preliminary information free of charge and let you know the net price, including labor and parts, in writing before the transaction.
